Eleven dengue patients succumbed to the disease, and 1,079 others were hospitalised across the country in the past 24 hours ending Sunday morning, marking the highest daily death toll this year.

According to a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the new hospitalisations included 97 patients in Barishal division, 133 in Chattogram, 272 in Dhaka division, 194 in Dhaka North City, 121 in Dhaka South City, 143 in Khulna, 58 in Rajshahi, 58 in Mymensingh, nine in Sylhet, and 17 in Rangpur division.

This year, the total number of dengue cases has surged to 86,791, with 459 deaths reported so far. Of the total fatalities, 51.10% were female, while 48.90% were male.

In comparison, last year recorded 1,705 dengue-related deaths and 321,179 cases in the country.
